EVENT NAME:  The Errollyn Wallen Song Club

DATE:               Thursday 11th March (also 15th April 2010)

Errollyn Wallen by Dominic Harris

DESCRIPTION:

Award-winning British composer and songwriter, Errollyn Wallen, is on a mission to get the UK writing songs. The Errollyn Wallen Song Club aims to rekindle the tradition of songwriting as a medium for expressing personal narratives beyond the constricting formulas of pop music. She plans to unearth and bring forward all those singer-songwriters with a secret stash of stories to tell!

The Errollyn Wallen Song Club is hosted by The Menagerie, Soho's new and only venue for cutting-edge performance art and music. Its founders see the Song Club as an exciting new performance series "where artists can explore the possibilities, take risks and share a valuable experience."

Errollyn will begin each night with a set of her songs, which will be followed by her special invited guests. Then it is open to the floor. The first 8 people to turn up on the night can perform one three-minute song. All performers  need to buy a ticket for the night's event.

The 'renaissance woman of contemporary British music' (The Observer), Errollyn Wallen was awarded an MBE in the 2007 Queen's Honours List for services to music.
